Report: Buccaneers to meet with Dan Connolly

Winslow Townson / Reuters

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to host guard Dan Connolly for a visit, according to Ross Jones of FOX Sports.

Connolly, who's been with the New England Patriots since 2008, has experience playing both guard and center. He could pair with former teammate Logan Mankins to upgrade the Bucs' offensive line.

Connolly battled injuries in 2014 to play in 13 games. He was ineffective at times.

Letting Connolly walk would be in keeping with the Patriots' pattern of jettisoning veterans before they bottom out, although it's been reported that he is a priority free agent for the Super Bowl champs.
