Alabama dismisses Jonathan Taylor after arrest

Alabama has dismissed defensive tackle Jonathan Taylor from the program following his arrest Saturday for an alleged domestic violence incident.

Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban released a statement regarding the decision to remove Taylor from the team, as reported by Alex Scarborough of ESPN.

"Jonathan Taylor has been dismissed from the team and is no longer a part of our program," Saban said. "This will still need to go through the legal process, but when he was given an opportunity here, it was under strict guidelines and we made it clear there was a zero tolerance policy."

Taylor was originally committed to attend Georgia, but he was dismissed by the Bulldogs last year after his arrest for a separate alleged incident of domestic violence.

Alabama signed Taylor in January as part of its 2015 class with Saban and athletic director Bill Battle saying at the time that Taylor deserved a second chance. Obviously, his latest arrest has put an end to that opportunity.
