Report: Broken toe expected to keep Hawks' Scott out 4-6 weeks
Mike Scott will likely have at least a month to ponder his next emoji tattoo.
After being diagnosed with a broken left big toe, the Atlanta Hawks forward is expected to miss four-to-six weeks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
Depending on which end of that tunnel Scott crawls through, that may mean missing part or all of the first round of the playoffs.
In his third season since being picked by the Hawks in the second round of the 2012 draft, Scott has developed into a reliable two-way bench cog and a dangerous 3-point shooter. He's knocking down a career-best 35.3 percent of his attempts from distance this season, and his 7.5 points rank second among Hawks reserves.
His production off the bench won't be easy to replace, but the Hawks won't have to worry about that for the remainder of the regular season. With a 10-game lead and 17 games to play, they have the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed all but wrapped up.
For the time being, they're attempting to plug the leak with journeyman forward Austin Daye, who they signed to a 10-day contract on Sunday.
