Celtics' Bradley will not play Friday due to elbow strain

Mark L. Baer / USA TODAY Sports

Tough day for the Boston Celtics.

First, their contract talks with free-agent center JaVale McGee broke down. Now, they find they'll be without shooting guard Avery Bradley for their next game and possibly longer.

Bradley has been diagnosed with a left elbow sprain and will not travel with the team to New Orleans, where they commence a three-game road trip on Friday against the Pelicans

It's unclear whether Bradley will join the team at any point on their trip, which continues with a game against the Orlando Magic on Sunday and the Miami Heat on Monday, but he'll miss Friday's game at the least.

Bradley, who's also been playing through a thumb fracture, has missed just one game for the Celtics this season. He's averaging 13.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and one steal in 31.2 minutes per game.

The Celtics are two games back of the Charlotte Hornets for the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot.
