Mavericks' Parsons to miss 3 games with ankle injury

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks will be without small forward Chandler Parsons for their next three contests, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.

Parsons sustained an ankle injury in the third quarter of the Mavericks' win over the Houston Rockets on Friday. Parsons tried to play and stay in the game at first, but looked noticeably hobbled and checked out soon after.

X-rays on Parsons's ankle came back negative for breakages, which is a positive sign. Parsons was spotted sporting a walking boot on Friday.

Prior to Parsons's injury, the 26-year-old swingman had struggled with his shot. Parsons connected on just 29.8 percent of his field goals over his last four games. However, Parsons has been a steady contributor on the whole this season, posting a solid stat line of 15.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

The Mavericks' next three games come against the Charlotte Hornets, Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks. The Mavericks sit two games up on the San Antonio Spurs for sixth place in the West.

Dallas is somewhat thin on the wing and will likely turn to one of Al-Farouq Aminu or Richard Jefferson to hold down the perimeter.
