Chandler Parsons to undergo MRI after spraining ankle in win over Rockets

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Chandler Parsons was in a protective walking boot following Friday's game against the Houston Rockets after spraining his left ankle in the third quarter of the 111-100 victory. X-Rays came back negative but Parsons will undergo an MRI on the ankle Saturday to determine the severity of the injury, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas.

Parsons twisted his ankle after landing awkwardly on a rebound attempt and said he was really sore after helping the Dallas Mavericks bounce back from a blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday.

"It just kind of gave out and started throbbing," Parsons said.

Although he remained in the game after initially suffering the injury, Parsons exited early in the fourth quarter and didn't return. He scored 13 points with four rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes against his former team.

Parsons said he originally hurt the ankle in Dallas' final game before the All-Star break and had been receiving treatment on it throughout the week.

James Harden, the NBA's leading scorer, notched a game-high 26 points in the loss.
