Vic Beasley may have just laid the groundwork for major elevation in draft stock. 35 reps for an outside linebacker who had size and speed question marks is ridiculous. If he runs well in the 40, as he is expected to, Beasley could jump up to a top-10 or even top-5 selection.

Other Notable Performances

  • Randy Gregory, Nebraska - 24 reps
  • Shaq Thompson, Washington - DNP
  • Bud Dupree, Kentucky - DNP

Randy Gregory was solid at 24 reps and, by not failing miserably, he dispelled some of the negativity surrounding his light weight. Gregory needs to run very fast to turn around his combine. Solid performances in the vertical jump and 3-cone drill will help him as well.

Both Shaq Thompson and Bud Dupree decided not to participate in the bench press. For Dupree, who should make his mark in the speed, agility and jumping drills, it makes sense as he likely would not perform well.

For Thompson, who is working out solely as a linebacker, it seems strange that he would not bench press as strength is one of his assets.
