Senators' Neil has thumb surgery, cast expected off in 2 weeks

Ottawa Senators forward Chris Neil underwent thumb surgery and will need several weeks to recover, general manager Bryan Murray confirmed Friday.

Neil's cast is expected to be removed in about two weeks, Murray said.

The Senators' pugilist fractured his thumb in a fight with Edmonton Oilers forward Luke Gazdic last Saturday.

Neil's estimated recovery time ranges anywhere from three-to-five weeks, according to reports.
