Senators' Neil suffered fractured thumb in bout with Oilers' Gazdic

Chris Neil has gone great lengths to stay in Ottawa.

The Ottawa Senators' winger suffered a fractured thumb in a spirited fight with Edmonton Oilers forward Luke Gazdic on Sunday, effectively torpedoing his trade value ahead of the March 2 deadline. 

Ottawa announced that Neil will be out indefinitely. 

The Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues had reported interest in the long-time Senators tough guy.
