Wizards' Beal out Saturday with toe injury

Jason Getz / USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Wizards will have to try to snap their five-game losing streak without their starting shooting guard Saturday, as Bradley Beal will sit out against the Brooklyn Nets with a toe injury.

Beal left Thursday's loss to the Charlotte Hornets after playing only 11 minutes and said afterwards that his right big toe, which was injured the night before, was "pretty messed up."

Beal missed the first nine games of the season with a wrist fracture. He's averaging 15 points, 3.8 rebounds, three assists and 1.2 steals, while knocking down 3-pointers at a top-10 clip (43.6 percent).

Washington has performed 7.3 points per-100 possessions better with Beal on the court as opposed to on the bench, according to NBA.com.

The team's offense, especially, is a different animal with Beal on the court. The Wizards score 105.8 points per-100 possessions with Beal on, a mark that would rank ninth in the league. Washington's offensive rating of 100.1 with Beal sitting down, on the other hand, would rank 25th.

A banged-up Beal is even more concerning as backcourt mate and All-Star John Wall has been dealing with Achilles and ankle injuries, himself, as well as migraines.

With Beal out, the Wizards will turn to Otto Porter, Jr. in the starting lineup.
