Wizards' Beal says toe 'pretty messed up' after leaving game Thursday
Bradley Beal lasted only 11 minutes in the Washington Wizard's loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday - the team's fifth straight - before exiting with an injury.
Beal said afterwards he suffered an injury to his right big toe in Wednesday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks and it's "pretty messed up."
He'll likely have the toe examined on Friday - according to Comcast Sportsnet's Chris Miller - and hopes to play Saturday against the Brooklyn Nets.
Beal, who missed the first nine games of the season with a wrist fracture, is averaging 15 points, 3.8 rebounds, three assists and 1.2 steals in 42 games, knocking down 3-pointers at a top-10 clip (43.6%).
Rasual Butler has supplied some surprising shooting, and players like Garrett Temple, Martell Webster and Otto Porter, Jr. can fill in, but losing Beal would be a blow to the Wizards, who have performed 7.3 points per 100 possessions better with their starting two-guard on the court as opposed to on the bench, according to NBA.com.
Washington's offense is a different animal with Beal on the court, when the Wizards score 105.8 points per 100 possessions, a mark that would rank ninth in the league. Washington's offensive rating of 100.1 with Beal sitting down would rank 24th.
A banged up Beal is even more concerning as backcourt mate and All-Star John Wall has been dealing with Achilles and ankle injuries, himself, as well as migraines.
