Report: Lorenzo Brown getting second 10-day deal with Wolves

The return of Ricky Rubio was not enough to convince Flip Saunders and the Minnesota Timberwolves that their guard depth is where it needs to be.

Despite having Rubio alongside veteran Mo Williams and rookie Zach LaVine, the Wolves will give Lorenzo Brown a second 10-day contract, according to a report from Shams Charania of RealGM. With Williams on the trade block, LaVine nursing a sore ankle and Rubio recently returned, keeping a fourth guard isn't the worst idea.

Brown had been signed to help fill in while Rubio and Williams were both hurt, immediately being thrust into heavy playing time. But after averaging 31.7 minutes in three January contests, Brown logged just one total minute of action in two February games.

He's averaging four points, 3.8 assists and 2.3 rebounds.

Last season, Brown appeared in 26 games with the Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 2.5 points and 1.6 assists in 8.6 minutes.

A second-round pick of Minnesota in 2013, Brown has spent the bulk of his two pro seasons in the D-League, averaging 17.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
