Report: Predators aggressively pursuing Senators' Neil

Robert Mayer / USA Today

The Nashville Predators are reportedly interested in getting tougher for a potential playoff run.

The Predators are expected to aggressively pursue Ottawa Senators veteran tough guy Chris Neil as the trade deadline approaches, according to FOX Sports Midwest reporter Andy Strickland.

Neil is averaging fewer than 10 minutes time on ice in his 13th season with the Senators. The 35-year-old is a shadow of his former self in terms of offensive production with 33 points in his last 158 games, but he has six fights in 2014-15, which would account for more than half of Nashville's team total.

Neil submitted a list of 15 teams he doesn't want to play for at the start of the season as part of his limited no-trade clause. The St. Louis Blues are apparently one of those teams, but the possibility of Neil being moved could hinge on whether or not the Predators are on the list as well.
