Redick, Brewer and Drummond receive flop warnings
Flops just don't have the same stigma since P.J. Hairston set a new standard for egregious overreactions last week.
Still, the NBA has to enforce their anti-flopping policy, and so a trio of flop warnings have been handed out in recent days, each to notable players on potential playoff teams.
Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard J.J. Redick received a warning on Tuesday for his flop against the Boston Celtics on Monday. On the play in question, Redick heavily embellished some late contact on a 3-point attempt, trying to draw a foul by hitting the deck hard.
Over the weekend, the league warned Houston Rockets wing Corey Brewer for over-selling a bump from Andre Iguodala in hopes of drawing an offensive foul. Brewer was fined for his second flopping violation of the 2012-13 season on Dec. 9, 2013, but this is his first infraction this year.
Elsewhere on the weekend, Detroit Pistons big man Andre Drummond was hit with a warning for successfully selling a referee on a push-off from Roy Hibbert, dramatically hitting the deck after some light contact.
It's the first warning of the season for each player, and a second offense will be accompanied by a $5,000 fine.
