Report: Red Sox not willing to part with Betts, Swihart to acquire Cole Hamels

The Cole Hamels trade rumors are cooling off, at least in Boston.

The Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies have not discussed a trade involving pitcher Cole Hamels this month, reports Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

The Red Sox are not willing to part ways with outfielder Mookie Betts or catching prospect Blake Swihart, which has cooled trade talks. The Phillies are believed to be asking for at least one of the duo, but Ben Cherington and Co. aren't budging.

Cherington bolstered his rotation this offseason by adding Rick Porcello, Justin Masterson and Wade Miley to the mix, and appears content with his top five which also includes Joe Kelly and Clay Buchholz.

Cafardo is also hearing the Phillies are getting inquiries from West Coast teams about Hamels, but doesn't mention any clubs in particular.

Hamels has four years remaining on his contract and is owed $94 million. The pact also includes a $20-million team option for 2019.
