Report: Sharks, Kings expected to meet in NHL's 2nd outdoor game
Kelvin Kuo / USA TODAY Sports
The NHL will be decidedly less liberal with its outdoor offerings for the upcoming season, but the league reportedly can't resist building off the momentum in California.
It's expected that the Feb. 21 date between the defending champion Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks will mark the NHL's second outdoor game of the season, per Eric Duhatschek of The Globe and Mail.
The state rivals will have to wait until late February to meet outdoors, but they will get reacquainted quite soon. The Kings will raise their banner in front of the Sharks on opening night.
The Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals will skate to the other (much colder) stadium game this season, partaking in the Winter Classic on New Year's Day.
