Spurs' trio becomes all-time winningest threesome in NBA playoffs

Soobum Im / USA Today Sports

With a rousing Game 2 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night, the San Antonio Spurs' trio of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili set an NBA record for the most playoff wins ever for a threesome of teammates.

The win is the 111th for the triumvirate - and lest we forget the omnipresence of Gregg Popovich in all of this - putting them one ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers "Showtime" trio of Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Michael Cooper.

(Note: That image was on the broadcast before the Spurs secured the victory.)

While it took San Antonio a little longer (171 games to just 157 for the Lakers) and the Lakers' group has one more title (five, to the Spurs' four), the Spurs could cement their legacy with a fifth championship of their own this year.

As outlined in the post below, the Duncan-Parker-Ginobili group is also second in all-time regular season wins. Been pimpin' since.
