Report: Bears to sign Glennon to 3-year deal worth $14.5M annually

The Chicago Bears will sign quarterback Mike Glennon to a three-year deal worth an average of $14.5 million when free agency officially opens Thursday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

The Bears were destined to be Glennon's next destination, it seems, with one report even suggesting the team might have bid against itself.

In Glennon, the Bears will get a passer who showed a lot of promise in a rookie season in which he started 13 games and completed 59.4 percent of his passes for 2,608 yards, 19 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

Glennon's level of play tailed off in his second season, however, and he sat behind Jameis Winston on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' depth chart for the past two campaigns.

It's likely the Bears view Glennon as something between their next franchise passer and a bridge quarterback. Indeed, Glennon's contract will not prevent the Bears from also adding a rookie quarterback in the draft, according to Rapoport.
