Mr. Met burns Syndergaard twice in savage Valentine's exchange

Noah Syndergaard may never want to mess with his club's mascot again.

The fireballing right-hander and the New York Mets' cheery talisman have innocently gone back and forth since last season when the pitcher revealed the mascot gave him the creeps.

But the budding rivalry may have reached critical levels on Valentine's Day, of all days, when Mr. Met opened with a sly dig at a younger Syndergaard:

Syndergaard quickly tried to save face in his reply:

But was promptly embarrassed again by the savage mascot:

That left the 24-year-old with no option but to shake his head in defeat:
