Syndergaard is terrified of mascots ... especially Mr. Met

If Thor is ever looking for a sidekick, it won't be Mr. Met.

Noah Syndergaard, the 6-foot-6 hard-throwing right-hander, revealed that not only is he afraid of mascots, but that he is especially terrified of the one from his hometown team in Queens who features a large baseball for a head.

"I'm terrified of Mascots," Syndergaard told Fox Sports. "They're just creepy. They're very stealthy, but they're huge at the same time. I feel like they sneak up on me anywhere. The most terrifying mascot for me, Mr. Met, is probably somewhere up there."

Mr. Met has been a fixture with the organization since 1962 and is one of 18 to have been inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame. He is enshrined with notables such as the Phillie Phanatic, Suns Gorilla, and Brutus Buckeye.

With Mr. Met entrenched in the club's history, he's not likely going anywhere so Noah will have to sleep with one eye open.
