Atletico's Godin suffers adductor injury

Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin suffered a right adductor injury in Tuesday's rabid 1-1 Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Barcelona, the club revealed in a statement.

Lucas Hernandez replaced Godin in the 49th minute before the game took a series of crazy turns. One missed penalty and three red cards later, Barcelona emerged as the 3-2 victor on aggregate to book a spot in a fourth consecutive Copa del Rey final.

Nico Gaitan, who left the pitch a minute before his teammate, also suffered trauma to his right foot, according to the statement.

Atletico did not provide an immediate timetable for either player's return, although any extended absence would force them to miss the first leg of the last-16 Champions League clash against Bayer Leverkusen, along with a Feb. 26 meeting with Barcelona.

Not 24 hours earlier, Hernandez was called into a Madrid court room to face charges of domestic violence against his girlfriend.

But as Diego Simeone's only healthy centre-back, Hernandez was called back into action at Camp Nou, which, according to Marca, did not give him the warmest of welcomes after hearing news of the trial.
