Report: Bayern Munich joins list of Dele Alli admirers

Bayern Munich is the latest European behemoth casting hungry glances in the direction of Tottenham Hotspur's Dele Alli, but recognises it could be a long-term project to acquire the 20-year-old, according to The Times' Matt Hughes.

It's understood that chairman Daniel Levy won't sanction the sale of any of Spurs' star players until at least one season has been played at the newly renovated White Hart Lane, with its grand re-opening slated for the 2018-19 season. The shrewd businessman has also slapped a huge and potentially off-putting price tag on the England international's head, believed to eclipse the world record £85 million Tottenham received from Real Madrid for Gareth Bale in 2013.

Real Madrid is a club that has been linked with an approach for Alli in the past - rumours of a £50-million bid from Los Blancos circled earlier this year - along with Paris Saint-Germain, but the Bavarian giant has been eyeing the midfielder since he was making his MK Dons debut aged 16, alongside ex-Bayern prospect Dale Jennings.

Alli's increased potency this term as he shadows Harry Kane at Tottenham has further enhanced his burgeoning reputation which has seen his salary double twice - from £12,500 a week to £50,000 a week - in the space of two years. Bayern has apparently gone as far to compare Alli to Thomas Muller, due to his versatility and knack of ghosting into space when on the attack.

In 22 Premier League appearances, Alli has contributed 11 goals and two assists - including a run of seven goals in four matches over December and January. He'll be expected to start in Saturday's visit from low-scoring Middlesbrough.
