Vegas stadium official: Raiders 'feel strongly' they can secure finances
While the Oakland Raiders' proposed move to Las Vegas is in doubt due to a pair of financial partners withdrawing from the project, the team hasn't stopped fighting for a move to the desert.
Earlier in the week, billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and investment bank Goldman Sachs pulled out of the Raiders' project, but Las Vegas Stadium Authority board chairman Steve Hill says his group will still work with the team.
"(The Raiders) feel strongly that they’ll be able to (secure financial support), and the Stadium Authority Board certainly will continue to work with them to make the project happen," Hill told Nicole Raz of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
With the withdrawal of Addelson and Goldman Sachs, the Raiders will have to secure upwards of $1.15 billion to get a stadium deal done. There is still support for the team to stay in the Bay Area, as well as a group from San Diego, who are interested in having the Raiders replace the Chargers as their local team.
