Rooney upset with Daily Mail's coverage of his historic goal
Wayne Rooney wasn't impressed with the angle one news outlet took the morning after becoming Manchester United's joint-top scorer.
The United captain moved into a tie with club legend Sir Bobby Charlton when he scored his 249th United goal during Saturday's FA Cup victory over Reading.
But, instead of the focus being on the history-making moment, Rooney found himself at the centre of baseless reports regarding his failed attempt to swap shirts on the pitch with Reading midfielder, and former Manchester City youth product, George Evans.
In particular, he took exception to the Daily Mail's coverage, as the British newspaper, along with various other outlets, suggested Evans may have rejected a chance to swap shirts with Rooney due to his City ties.
I find it amazing that I equal sir Bobby Charltons record and this is a headline in the mail. pic.twitter.com/MXCs1HFooT

As the story began to pick up steam, Evans took to social media to clarify that he wanted to avoid swapping shirts on the pitch after his team's 4-0 defeat. He eventually exchanged shirts out from the public eye in the tunnel at Old Trafford.
