George Evans, a product of the Manchester City academy and lifelong fan of the club, appeared to proudly shun Wayne Rooney's offer of his Manchester United shirt on Saturday.
The midfielder, now plying his trade for Reading, was on the losing side in the FA Cup third-round meeting as the Red Devils triumphed by a 4-0 scoreline.
Evans took to Twitter after the match to clear up matters: the pair actually swapped shirts in the tunnel.
To clear up I asked to exchange shirts in the tunnel due to a disappointing day!! congratulations on your record @WayneRooney ππΌβ½οΈ pic.twitter.com/oMEfoP2Pat
