Report: Dodgers, Twins at standstill in Dozier talks

After signing Kenley Jansen, Justin Turner, and Rich Hill, the Los Angeles Dodgers need for a second baseman has become one of the team's top priorities, with Brian Dozier of the Minnesota Twins a prime target.

L.A. and Minnesota have been engaged in trade discussions surrounding the 29-year-old for more than a month, but it appears the two sides have hit a wall in negotiations, according to Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.

The Dodgers were reportedly willing to part with top pitching prospect Jose De Leon, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, but a sticking point appears to be the second - and possibly third - pieces involved in the deal, according to Heyman's sources.

First base prospect Cody Bellinger is a player the Twins are interested in, according to Heyman, but the Dodgers aren't willing to part with the 21-year-old, who's hit 56 home runs in the minors over the last two seasons, and is regarded as a great defender.

Dozier had a career year in 2016, hitting 42 home runs to go along with 35 doubles, 99 RBIs, and a .886 OPS. He would be an upgrade over Chase Utley, who started the majority of games at second for the Dodgers last season, and is still available in free agency.

PLAYER HR RBI 2B OPS WAR
Brian Dozier 42 99 35 .886 5.9
Chase Utley 14 52 26 .716 2.0

Dozier has also reportedly drawn interest from the San Francisco Giants.

Over his five seasons, Dozier owns a .246/.320/.442 slash line with 117 home runs and 346 RBIs.
