Wake Forest fires radio analyst over leaked game plans
Wake Forest has gotten to the bottom of its leaked game-plan mystery.
After a thorough investigation, the school fired radio announcer Tommy Elrod on the basis of emails, text messages, and phone records revealing him to be behind the leak, according to a statement from the school.
The investigation revealed that Elrod had either provided or attempted to provide "confidential and proprietary game preparations on multiple occasions" to opponents, dating back to 2014.

Elrod played football for the Demon Deacons from 1993-97, and then held multiple coaching positions over 11 subsequent seasons.
"I have know Tommy Elrod since his days as a player on our football team," athletic director Ron Wellman said in a statement Tuesday. "I'm deeply disappointed that he would act against Wake Forest, our football team and our fans in such a harmful manner by compromising confidential game preparation information."
Concern began following Wake Forest's loss to Louisville on Nov. 12 - when a member of Wake Forest's traveling party apparently found documents outlining its game plan inside Louisville's stadium - which alerted Demon Deacons head coach Dave Clawson to a potential security breach.
"It's incomprehensible that a former Wake Forest student-athlete, graduate-assistant, full-time football coach and current radio analyst for the school, would betray his alma mater," Clawson said in a statement. "We allowed him to have full access to our players, team functions, film room, and practices. He violated our trust which negatively impacted our entire program. I am glad we have taken steps to ensure it will not happen in the future."
