Wake Forest investigating potential leak of game plan documents
Wake Forest may have been dealing with more than just Louisville during Saturday's loss, as the school is investigating how documents pertaining to their game plan may have ended up in the opponent's possession before the contest.
"We are concerned that there was some type of security breach," head coach Dave Clawson told Dan Collins of the Winston-Salem Journal. "I have shared it with (athletic director) Ron Wellman, and we're doing everything we can to make sure all of our information and data is more secure moving forward."
A member of Wake Forest's traveling party apparently found documents outlining the team's game plan in Louisville's stadium on Friday.
"Since that time we have been looking at various possibilities and haven't come up with anything for certain at this point," Wellman said. "We will continue to review everything that we do and investigate how this might have happened and make sure it doesn't happen in the future."
Wake Forest led the Cardinals 12-10 entering the fourth quarter, but were blitzed for 34 points in the frame, eventually losing 44-12.
Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino immediately issued a statement, claiming he was unaware of any wrongdoing by the program.
"I have no knowledge of the situation," Petrino told Dan Wolken of USA Today. "We take a lot of pride in the way we operate our program. As I've stated already this season, my coaching philosophy has always been to play the game with sportsmanship. Right now, our focus is on our game tomorrow at Houston and finishing the 2016 season strong."
