Ex-Alabama QB Blake Barnett commits to Arizona State

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

Blake Barnett is heading west.

After starting the 2016 season on the roster for No. 1 Alabama, and subsequently attending classes at Palomar College in California, Barnett announced his commitment to Arizona State on Monday.

Barnett elected to transfer from the Crimson Tide in September after it was clear he had lost the race for the starting job to Jalen Hurts. In three games, Barnett completed 11 of 19 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns.

In Barnett, the Sun Devils pick up the No. 1 rated pocket-passer by ESPN of the 2015 recruiting class. The gunslinger already has experience playing Pac-12 competition, having started for Alabama against USC on Sept. 3.
