There are no more obstacles in the way of Kelvin Gastelum and Tim Kennedy punching each other in the face.

Gastelum was recently handed a six-month suspension by the New York State Athletic Commission after failing to make weight for a bout with Donald Cerrone at UFC 205. The fight was subsequently canceled, and Gastelum received a suspension that was lifted on Tuesday when he and his team paid a $2,000 fine to the commission.

With a license from the Ontario Athletic Commission, Gastelum is now free to face Kennedy in a middleweight bout at UFC 206 in Toronto. He will be stepping in as a replacement, as Kennedy's original opponent, Rashad Evans, was denied a license due to irregularities in his medicals.

The UFC confirmed the bout on Wednesday.

Gastelum was climbing up the welterweight rankings before missing weight for a third time prior to the Cerrone bout. UFC president Dana White said he will never let the San Jose, Calif. native fight at 170 pounds again. In two previous UFC bouts at middleweight, he is undefeated.

Kennedy was originally supposed to fight Evans at UFC 205, but the NYSAC also denied him a license. The two-time Strikeforce title challenger has not competed since September 2014, a TKO loss to Yoel Romero.
