Report: Twins asking high price in Dozier trade talks

There doesn't appear to be any sort of Black Friday sale at Target Field.

With rumors about his future in the Twin Cities swirling, the Minnesota Twins are reportedly asking for a heavy return from teams interested in acquiring slugging second baseman Brian Dozier, reports Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

The Twins apparently told one interested team, according to Berardino, that they would "have to be wowed" in order to part with Dozier, one of the few true power threats in the team's lineup. It's not clear what teams the Twins spoke to about Dozier, or what kind of players they may have asked for as part of a package.

Dozier got off to a slow start in 2016, but a remarkable second-half surge saw him finish the season with 42 home runs, setting an American League single-season record for homers by a second baseman and finishing one shy of the major-league mark. He was also the only Twins hitter to hit more than 20 homers in 2016.

The 29-year-old was reportedly the subject of interest at the GM meetings earlier this month, and the Los Angeles Dodgers - who are searching for right-handed power bats this winter - were reported to have checked in on his availability.
