Derwin James vows strong return: 'Somebody got to pay for this'

Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

Though he won't be back on the field until bowl season at the earliest, Florida State safety Derwin James is putting his future opponents on notice.

James, who hasn't played since Week 2 because of a knee injury, tweeted Thursday that he plans to take out this year's frustrations on next year's foes:

James notched 11 tackles and an interception in six-plus quarters of action this season before going down with torn cartilage in his left knee.

The Seminoles initially hoped James would return in five-to-seven weeks, but that timeline failed to come to fruition.
