MGM Resorts head says he wants to relocate NBA team to Vegas
With the NHL coming to Las Vegas and the NFL likely next, some appear to be in a race to also bring the NBA to Sin City.
MGM Resorts CEO Jim Murren says he is working on relocating an existing franchise to the city's new T-Mobile Arena.
"It wouldn't be an expansion team," Murren told KNPR radio. "It would most likely be relocation of a team."
What team that could be is the billion-dollar question. With the Sacramento Kings and Milwaukee Bucks signing new arena deals over the last few years, the two franchises thought most to be at risk of recent relocation have been placated. Seattle also remains a city that has expressed an interest in getting a team back, after losing the Sonics to Oklahoma City in 2008.
The NBA has a history with Las Vegas, staging the 2007 All-Star festivities there as well as various regular-season and exhibition games over the years.
