Packers' Lacy not ruled out from playing Thursday

Despite reports Tuesday that Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy is set to miss several weeks of action with an ankle injury, head coach Mike McCarthy wouldn't even rule him out for Thursday's game against the Chicago Bears.

Speaking to the media, McCarthy said Lacy will be participating in the team's rehab program Wednesday.

"Frankly, he's going to have to have a wonderful, great 24 hours to play in the game," McCarthy said.

That statement seems to throw cold water on any chance of Lacy suiting up. But that McCarthy is even considering playing the injured back is an indictment on the state of the team's backfield. Without Lacy and with James Starks on IR, the Packers might be forced to roll with Knile Davis, whom they traded for Tuesday morning.

The Packers could conceivably put Lacy on the shelf after Wednesday's practice.
