Report: Packers' Lacy expected out several weeks with ankle injury

Cary Edmondson / USA TODAY Sports

Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy is expected to miss multiple weeks with an ankle injury that's more serious than a sprain, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Lacy is seeking a second opinion on the injury with Dr. Robert Anderson, a leading foot specialist in North Carolina, according to multiple reports. A source told Adam Schefter of ESPN that "anything else is speculation."

While Lacy's specific injury is unclear, the time frame makes sense given the Packers' trade for Kansas City Chiefs running back Knile Davis on Tuesday.

While Davis could see the majority of backfield work, wide receivers Ty Montgomery and Randall Cobb may also be in line for carries while Lacy is on the shelf.

Lacy has been solid running between the tackles this season after regressing during his third year. He's tallied 360 yards on 71 carries.
