Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine suffered a "light-pulled muscle" that isn't considered serious, head coach Bob Stoops told reporters after the Sooners knocked off Kansas State on Saturday.

In fact, Stoops said his top tailback could have played through the ailment, but the team erred on the side of caution. The Sooners handled the Wildcats 38-17 to pick up their third consecutive victory.

Perine left the contest for good during Oklahoma's second offensive possession. He recorded three caries for 14 yards, and caught a touchdown before exiting.

Joe Mixon carried the load in Perine's absence, tallying 88 yards on 19 carries.
