Jerry Jones: Romo remains Cowboys' QB1

Erich Schlegel / USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys sit first in the NFC East.

After the latest and greatest performance from rookie quarterback Dak Prescott improved the team's record to 4-1, team owner Jerry Jones was still not ready to cede power and the team's immediate future to Prescott.

Romo is currently recovering from a fracture in his back that he suffered in the preseason. His recovery was expected to have him return in Week 8, after the team's bye week. According to Jones, Romo will regain full control of the team's offense when that time comes.

It may be somewhat of a surprising call as Romo has proven to be injury-prone and inconsistent at his best, and Prescott has led the Cowboys to four consecutive wins.

Prescott has thrown for 1,239 yards and three touchdowns in his five career games, and he still has yet to throw an interception. Dallas was projected to be a playoff contender with Romo, and even with Prescott, it appears the team remains on that course.
