Ramsey misses out on Wales qualifiers

Aaron Ramsey's torturous spell on the sidelines continues after the Arsenal midfielder was left off Chris Coleman's Wales squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Georgia.

The 25-year-old hasn't featured competitively since playing just over an hour against Liverpool in mid-August - his only involvement after starring at Euro 2016 - and has since been sidelined for 10 outings at domestic and international level with a hamstring issue.

It compounds a promising career marred by injuries for the Cardiff City academy graduate, and justifies worries expressed by club manager Arsene Wenger last week.

"There is concern because he has been out for so much time," Wenger said.

"It's extremely disappointing after the magnificent tournament Aaron had at the Euros that he picked up an injury in the opening game of the season."

Wales is preparing to negotiate a tricky trip to Austria and a visit from Georgia in October's World Cup qualifiers, and Coleman has named a squad that - with the exception of Emyr Huws, Shaun MacDonald, and Tom Lawrence - all travelled to the Euro 2016 finals in France.

Here's the squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Wayne Hennessey (Crystal Palace), Danny Ward (Huddersfield Town), Owain Fon Williams (Inverness Caledonian Thistle)

Defenders: Ben Davies (Tottenham Hotspur), James Chester (Aston Villa), James Collins (West Ham United), Paul Dummett (Newcastle United), Chris Gunter (Reading), Jazz Richards (Cardiff City), Neil Taylor (Swansea City), Ashley Williams (Everton)

Midfielders: Joe Allen (Stoke City), David Edwards (Wolves), Emyr Huws (Cardiff City), Andy King (Leicester City), Joe Ledley (Crystal Palace), Shaun MacDonald (Wigan Athletic)

Forwards: Gareth Bale (Real Madrid), Simon Church (Roda JC), David Cotterill (Birmingham City), Tom Lawrence (Ipswich Town), Hal Robson-Kanu (West Bromwich Albion), Sam Vokes (Burnley)
