Here are theScore's shortstop value rankings for Saturday, September 24 (all stats exclude Friday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME VALUE OPPONENT
Corey Seager (LAD) vs. COL 9
Jorge Polanco (MIN) vs. SEA 8
Dansby Swanson (ATL) at MIA 8

Seager leads all shortstops with a .968 OPS versus right-handed pitchers. He's walked or hit safely in eight straight games; even when he isn't adding to his 69 extra-base hits (25 HRs, four triples, 40 doubles), he's shown an ability to work a walk and keep the inning alive. He can be trusted on in cash games.

Polanco has a .955 OPS in 57 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers this year. Hitting directly behind Brian Dozier will ensure that he sees a number of at-bats with runners on base.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME VALUE OPPONENT
Asdrubal Cabrera (NYM) vs. PHI 7
Carlos Correa (HOU) vs. LAA 6
Jonathan Villar (MIL) vs. CIN 5

With a .419 OBP, six extra-base hits and three stolen bases over his last nine games, the hottest batter in fantasy is inconspicuous Mets infielder Cabrera. His success has caused his salary to balloon to the highest figure at his position. With a .351 BABIP in September thus far, regression could be right around the corner. He'd be playable in cash games at a lower price but for now, stick to GPP contests.

Correa and Villar are struggling to find consistency at the plate, but their big-play potential ensures that they're never far from returning tournament value. At their current prices, they can still be used in tournaments.

Nothing to See Here

NAME VALUE OPPONENT
Danny Espinosa (WAS) at PIT 3
Alcides Escobar (KC) at DET 3
Ketel Marte (SEA) at MIN 2

Escobar has a .596 OPS against LHPs this season. It's nice that he has a pair of homers and a pair of triples over his last eight games but all indications are that he is utterly unable to hit lefties for power. Without those big hits, Escobar's .273 OBP over his last 10 games doesn't offer much of a floor.
