Buccaneers release Seferian-Jenkins following DUI

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have waived mercurial tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, hours after his reported arrest on a driving under the influence charge.

The 23-year-old was arrested in Florida around 3:40 a.m. ET Friday morning and was handed two misdemeanors, including the DUI. He was also found to be in violation of a court-ordered restriction that stems from a 2013 DUI arrest. Seferian-Jenkins was released from police custody around 12 p.m.

The former second-round pick's two-plus seasons with the Buccaneers was a rocky one, as he recorded just 45 catches in 18 games and had several run-ins with coaches. He never realized his potential and often had to fight off lesser talents for playing time.

However, the 6-foot-5 pass-catcher may not be unemployed for long, as he still possesses desired skills, evidenced by his diving touchdown catch in Week 1 versus the Atlanta Falcons.

In a subsequent move, the Bucs signed tight end Alan Cross from their practice squad.
