Report: Marshawn Lynch 'up in the air' about return to football

Marshawn Lynch has stated a return to football is not forthcoming throughout the offseason, but things may have changed.

Lynch is said to be "up in the air" about coming out of retirement, a source told Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, and Week 4 or 5 would be the "hot spots" for a possible return.

Despite the report, Lynch's former teammates, who visited with the former running back during Week 4 of the preseason, are skeptical about a return.

"I would think he would tell us, and he hasn't," an unnamed Seattle Seahawks player told Ed Werder of ESPN.

The Seahawks still hold his rights and could add him to their active roster, trade, or cut him should Lynch decide to officially come out of retirement.

The Seahawks are set at running back with Thomas Rawls, Christine Michael, and a pair of rookies rounding out a deep backfield, so it's unlikely they're clamoring for a Lynch return at his $9-million salary.

Lynch spent nine seasons in the NFL, racking up six 1,000-plus yard seasons while going to five Pro Bowls.
