When it was announced Maguire would be out at least four weeks, coach Jimbo Fisher handed the quarterback position over to redshirt freshman Deondre Francois.
Fisher and the Seminoles were hopeful Maguire would be able to return for FSU's Week 2 game against Charleston Southern on Sept. 10.
Florida State faces Ole Miss in Orlando on Sept. 5.
