Wednesday's second leg at the Etihad was more of a Joe Hart love-in than a Champions League match. Manchester City carried an insurmountable 5-0 aggregate lead into the home fixture against Steaua Bucharest, and topped it off with a goal from Fabian Delph.

But the focus of the occasion was Hart, whose future at the club is uncertain. Claudio Bravo is about to finalise a move to Pep Guardiola's side, as the Spanish manager looks to secure a goalkeeper with better distribution skills.

Hart had an easy night in the City goal, facing just three shots on target. The supporters showed their solidarity with one of the longest-serving players on the squad, taking every opportunity to applaud and chant in his name.

If that was his final match with the Citizens, he'll go out with the last laugh. Hart ended the game with a 100 percent distribution record.

APOEL 1, FC Copenhagen 1 (1-2 on aggregate)

APOEL failed to get out of the Champions League play-off round for the second year running, after conceding a late goal to Copenhagen's Federico Santander. It's the first time the Danish outfit has reached the group stage of Europe's premier tournament since the 2013-14 season.

FC Salzburg 1, Dinamo Zagreb 2 (2-3 on aggregate)

Salzburg once again suffered the consequences of surrendering the lead. Zagreb's 76th-minute penalty leveled the first leg, and a late equaliser from Junior Fernandes sent the second into extra time Wednesday.

The Austrian champion could only watch as El Arbi Hillel Soudani streaked across the pitch to dispatch the eventual winner in the 95th minute.

European newcomer Rostov eviscerated former powerhouse Ajax on Wednesday, cutting apart the Dutch visitor on the counter-attack and capitalising on poor defending. It's the culmination of an extraordinary turnaround for the Russian minnow, which staved off relegation before mounting a challenge for the league title last season.
