Steelers' Harrison calls Goodell 'crook' over interview request
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison remains on the offensive toward NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, bristling at the prospect of an interview regarding PED allegations made about him in an Al Jazeera America report.
Harrison said Thursday the league doesn't possess credible evidence to demand an interview, after it was reported that he, along with Green Bay Packers linebackers Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers, would be suspended if they didn't cooperate with the NFL's interview request by Aug. 25.
Following the Steelers' 17-0 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, he took a shot at Goodell.
"If it leads to the hands of that crook, I mean Roger Goodell, he can do whatever he wants," Harrison said, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Harrison said he's cooperating with the league because he doesn't want to hurt his team.
"If it went to a longer situation and I got the suspension, the bigger outcome wasn't really worth it," he said. "I wouldn't be on the team. I'd hurt the team, hurt my teammates and coaches."
