Steelers' Harrison: NFL has no 'credible evidence' to demand interview

Charles LeClaire / USPRESSWIRE

Despite reportedly agreeing to meet with the NFL about the PED allegations made against him in an Al Jazeera America report, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison remains adamant that the league has no basis on which to demand the interview.

"They don't have credible evidence," Harrison told Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network on Thursday. "Period. End of discussion."

Harrison, along with Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers, and free-agent Mike Neal were all informed by the league that they would be suspended unless they agreed to be interviewed by Aug. 25.

Harrison has reportedly offered to meet with the league at the Steelers' facility on Aug. 29, after the imposed deadline.

An NFL spokesman told Kinkhabwala the league has yet to respond to Harrison's terms, or if it would be acceptable to hold the meeting after the deadline.

The 38-year-old Harrison and the NFL Players Association have asked the league multiple times to produce any evidence outside the Al Jazeera America report before they'd consent to an interview.

But Harrison said he'd decided to stop fighting because a suspension "would definitely hurt the team."
