At 24 years old, Kris Bryant is already firmly entrenched in the Chicago Cubs' record books.

On Thursday, the National League MVP candidate enjoyed another impressive day at the plate in the Cubs' 9-6 win over the Brewers, joining Joe Carter as the only two players in league history with multiple five-hit, two-home run games in a single season.

Bryant, who fell a triple shy of the cycle in his 5-for-5 effort, also became the fifth Cubs player in team history with a 30-homer season under age 24, joining Anthony Rizzo, Sammy Sosa, Ernie Banks, and Ron Santo.

On top of everything Bryant has done this season, his five-hit game triggered several other historical achievements, making him:

  • The first Cubs player with multiple five-hit games since Mark DeRosa in 2007.
  • The first Cubs player with at least 30 home runs in the team's first 120 games since Derek Lee and Aramis Ramirez in 2005.
  • The only player in MLB history to have three two-home run, four-hit games in one season before turning 25 years old.
  • The second Cubs player with multiple five-hit, five-RBI games since Phil Cavarretta in 1945.

In addition to breaking multiple records, Bryant is enjoying a fantastic sophomore campaign. By reaching the 30-home run mark Thursday, he's now tied with Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado for the NL lead.
