A May 2015 arrest for a domestic violence incident was the reason New York Giants kicker Josh Brown received a one-game suspension Wednesday, documents obtained by James Kratch of NJ Advance Media revealed.

Brown was suspended by the NFL for violating its personal conduct policy, but the reason for the ban was initially unknown.

The kicker was arrested May 22, 2015, on a fourth-degree domestic violence charge, which, according to the police report, is a misdemeanor charge.

Brown grabbed the victim's wrist as they picked up a phone, leaving "redness" on the wrist, "and a small cut, possibly from a fingernail," according to the police report.

The victim then called 911 and alleged assault.

Brown said in a statement through the Giants that while he doesn't agree with the suspension, he'll accept it.
