Here are theScore's second baseman value rankings for Saturday, July 23 (all stats exclude Friday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Brandon Phillips (CIN) vs. ARI 9
Jose Altuve (HOU) vs. LAA 9
Nick Franklin (TB) at OAK 8

At 35, Phillips certainly isn't the player he used to be, but he is still hitting .284 against lefties this season. He is worth his extremely affordable salary during his current hot streak (.353 average in last nine games) against southpaw Robbie Ray.

Franklin, a switch-hitter, is slashing .333/.421/.485 from the left side this season, so he will be happy to see righty Kendall Graveman toeing the rubber for the A's.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Devon Travis (TOR) vs. SEA 7
Jedd Gyorko (STL) vs. LAD 7
Jonathan Schoop (BAL) vs. CLE 6

Travis has three multi-hit performances in his last four games. His splits favor right-handers, so he will be pleased to see Hisashi Iwakuma on the hill. His salary is still very fair despite hitting .342 since June 12.

Gyorko might be the hottest hitter in all of baseball, but his price has risen because of it. In St. Louis' last series against San Diego, Gyorko went 8-for-16 with four home runs and seven RBIs in a four-game sweep of his former club. It'll be tough to carry that momentum against RHP Kenta Maeda, however.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Ben Zobrist (CHC) at MIL 3
Jurickson Profar (TEX) at KC 3
Brian Dozier (MIN) at BOS 2

Dozier's price is higher than usual facing a lefty, but David Price is no ordinary left-hander. Price has held Dozier to just six hits in 31 at-bats. The veteran second baseman is also hitting just .145 in the month of July.
