Report: Sunderland identifies Moyes as Allardyce replacement

Sunderland is reportedly looking to former Manchester United and Everton manager David Moyes to take over for Sam Allardyce once he completes his expected switch to the helm of the England national team, according to Sky Sports.

Allardyce is reportedly set to be announced as the Three Lions' newest manager on Thursday and Sky Sports understands that talks have already begun with Moyes regarding the filling of a potential vacancy ahead of the 2016-17 Premier League season.

Moyes, last with Real Sociedad in La Liga, has been out of work since November 2015.

Sunderland has not yet acknowledged interest in Moyes but did publish a statement on its official website denouncing talks of Allardyce's imminent departure:

"Naturally we are aware of the intense media speculation this evening, however, at the present time Sam Allardyce remains Sunderland manager," the club wrote. "We share in the anger and frustration of our supporters and would like to assure them that we are working to conclude the matter in the best interests of Sunderland AFC."
