Jim Grobe believes Baylor could serve as reform model

Jim Grobe believes in Baylor, even if not many others do.

Grobe has only been with Baylor since May, after taking over for the dismissed Art Briles, but already sees the university as a shining example for other institutions to learn from.

According to ESPN's Mitch Sherman, Grobe would look favorably at national policies put in place to assist schools handle issues such as the ones facing Baylor more effectively.

"I don't think it's the NCAA's responsibility," he said Wednesday. "But I do think that presidents and universities should share information and put together ideas that are pretty similar."

The Bears bench boss also stated that the recommendations of the Pepper Hamilton report should be made public to all universities across the country. The law firm issued a total of 105 recommendations to Baylor last month regarding improvement in the university's investigative atmosphere.

"I think it would probably be good if every university found out what those recommendations were and adopted them," Grobe said. "Because I've got a pretty good feeling that Baylor's better than it's ever been, and it's on the front line in dealing with these issues."

As far as the players still remaining on the Baylor football team, Grobe does not want the public to burden them with undeserving punishments.

"Their parents are upset," he said, "because all that's being said, all we talk about, are the issues that led to Art losing his job and the AD and the president, and there's not much said about all the good kids who are here."
